TROY (TROIA)

The ancient city, which is 18 km from Çanakkale in Anatolia, is one of the famous epics of Hisarlik Homeros, the Iliad, which is the subject of ten-year wars around this city, and the second epic of Odysseia deals with the return journey of one of heroes. Troy, which attracted great attention due to the subject of Homer's epics, was excavated by German Heinrich Schliemann for the first time. This excavation was started in 1870 to find the treasures of King Priamos in Troy that Homer was telling. Schliemann thought that the golden artifacts he found were the treasures of Priamos, and the fire layers were traces of the Trojan War. When an architect named Wilhelm Dörpfeld took part in 1882, the excavations were a scientific identification. At the end of the researches, 9 different building levels were determined. Between 1932 and 1938, a US delegation headed by Cari W. Bleck re-won Troy and more important strata were confirmed. In order to study the Trova, which is of great importance in various aspects of archeology history, it is necessary to handle cultural layers one by one from top to bottom. Troy I (BC 3200 / 3000-2500) There are 10 kattan on top. It is located on a 26 m high hill from the sea level. He was turning around a wall that reached a well-preserved day-to-day. The bases of the houses are made of stone and the upper parts are made of mudbrick. The plan of the houses is the megarondur which is frequently used in the Aegean world at that time. It is seen that the people of Troy I used weapons and tools made of stone as well as copper tools. In addition to these, tools made of bone and baked earth were also found. Troy I is a settlement entering Early Bronze Age. According to the tracks, it was ended with great destruction. Troy II (2500-2200 BC) It is the continuation of Troy I civilization. The settlement is divided into 7 building levels. This kata belongs to the settlement that Schliemann thinks he found the treasures of Priamos. Troy II is surrounded by a thicker wall than Troy I. In the middle of the megaron-planned houses which are arranged side by side, there is also the palace of the king or the king. Although the people of Troy II found the pottery wheel, some of the pottery still continued to be handcrafted. A large number of gold objects and valuable artifacts were uncovered on this settlement floor. Trojan II was probably destroyed by the attack of an enemy. Troy III-IV-V (2200-1800 BC) These three settlements, following Troy Il, are very poor in terms of remnants, and are also very backward in terms of culture. On these three settlements, it is believed that the Indo-European communities that destroyed Troy H had lived. Trojan IV has evolved a bit more than before. It's thought to last about a century. The general structure of Trojan V is not different from the other two tablets. Troy VI (1800-1275 BC) This settlement is divided into 8 building levels and three main stages. Trojan VI has spread over a wider area than previous settlements. The city, which is surrounded by a strong fortified wall, has five gates. Much of the Sur remains have come up to daylight. The altitude locates 9 m. The magnificent tower of dimensions 8 × 18 m is still standing today. The houses are megaron planned. With ornaments made from precious metals such as gold and silver found in excavations, some pot leak and cremation tombs show that the people of Troy VI came from different cultures. The period that is the subject of Homer's Ilayda is the Trojan VI phases. The magnificent fortifications that are mentioned in the famous fortifications are the walls of this layer. The last phase of the stratum, Vll, ended with an earthquake disaster. Troy VII (1275-1100 BC) This settlement is divided into two building levels as VH-a and VH-b. VH-a (1275-1240 BC) was settling down as a generation of a generation. Vl-h damage caused by the earthquake has been repaired and used. According to archaeologists in the USA, Vl-a is the splendid Ilion city that Homer refers to in Iliada and is the continuation of the city founded by Priamos. However, according to Vl, the fact that the structures are poorer, weakens this blood. The VH-b solid is divided into two, VH-bl and VII-b2. The 50-cm fire layer between VH-bl (1240- 1190 BC) and VH-a shows that the previous settlement ended with a great fire. VII-b2 (1190-1100 BC) is a plate of a Balkan people. Troya VIII The artifacts found on this plate do not go before the 7th century BC. This shows that the city has been abandoned for a long time. The most important building remains on this cant belong to the Athena Temple. Troya IX It is a lecture in the Roman period. The Romans paid special attention to Troy because they admitted that they came from the line of Trojan Aeneas. Especially during the periods of Caesar and Augustus the city was made flourishing. The Athena Temple was expanded and expanded with additional buildings. Each side of the temple was surrounded by columns of 80 m length. In order to do this, the stones of the floors of Troy VI and Troy VII were dismantled.
