Full Day Istanbul Jewish Heritage Tour
You will be picked up from the hotel at 09:00 am. You will start to Private Istanbul Jewish Heritage tour.
Our tour starts with visiting Ahrida Synanogue. It was built around 1500s by Romaniotes (Greek Jews), from the city of Ohrid (called ‘Ahrid’ in Greek) in what was then the Ottoman Empire and is now the Republic of Macedonia. After visiting the museum we drive to the Golden Horn visit the Balat quarter, walking among the old Jewish houses which the star of David can be seen on the facades. Then we will visit Askenazi Synanogue which is the only active Askenazi Synanogue in Istanbul. The afternoon tour starts with a visit to Neva Salom Sinagogue is the largest sinagogue in Turkey, built and opened in 1951, the most religious ceremonies are held here. We walk around Galata district (old Jewish settlement area), see the Camondo family´s house and Steps. Camondo family was a Banker family in the ottoman period who lived and buried in istanbul. Then we will visit the Zulfaris Synanogue, used as Turkey Jewish Museum today (located within Neva Salom). The last place in the afternoon is Etz Ahayim Synanogue in Ortakoy, active Sepharadim Synanogue.
At the end of the Istanbul Jewish Heritage tour, transfer you back to hotel around 17:00 pm.
