Entering the memorial gate, the Basilica of Saint John is being confronted. One of the Apostles, Saint John, had written his Gospel here and had been buried here. Then a church had been built över his grave. When this church established its fame among the Christians as a sacred place to be visited, Justinian, the Byzantine Emperor, and his wife, Theodora, had built the present basilica in the 6th century, A.D. As a matter of fact, the monograms of the emperor and the empress can be seen on the restored columns of the basilica. The tomb of Saint John is on the east side, and the baptistery is in the north of the church which is ın the shape of the cross. The basilica was covered with 6 cupolas.
Isa Bey Mosque: This one of the most important represents built by Isa Bey, a member of natives of Seljukian Art was, the family, which vas the emperor of the Aydin region, on a hill in Ayascluk. According to a statement, this mosque was com let 1375 A.C. Yet it keeps its original form. The different or names, the arabesque form of the plants, wall plates at the Southern dome, the monumental height of the gate in a west, and its rich decoration, are the masterpieces of Seljukian Art.
